Album Down In The Flood by Bob Dylan Review
Because the most fanatical enthusiasts absolutely positively must have every note Bob Dylan records, bootleggers will never go belly-up pirating garbage like Down in the Flood, which documents a March 15, 1995, show in Unterfrankenhalle-Aschaffenburg, Germany, performed just four days after a serious bout with influenza forced the indefatigable Dylan to cancel a concert for just the second time since 1974. The illness has clearly taken its toll, and while detractors would argue that Dylan always sings like he's battling the flu bug, he sounds particularly worse for wear throughout this brief set (its brevity another telling sign of his physical state). The set list is excellent, spanning rarities (the opening title cut) and landmarks (the finale "Like a Rolling Stone") alike, and the sound quality is superb, but this is a performance Dylan should never have given, and its existence on CD is wholly unnecessary. Although what else would you expect from a label called Money-Maker?Review by allmusic.com
