Album Electronic Warfare by Underground Resistance Review
For the Electronic Warfare double EP, Underground Resistance mastermind Mike Banks lays down some funky electro-influenced techno compositions and one truly stellar techno anthem. The several electro-influenced songs function well, alluding to Banks' direction away from the furious, pounding 909 kick drum and 303 acid-riff style tendencies of early '90s UR. Still, clocking in at a mammoth 11½ minutes, "The Illuminator" is the reason to own this record, as it fully utilizes Banks' gift for creating some of the most uplifting string-harmonies from his synthesizer, comparable only to DJ Rolando's "Jaguar" and the Martian's "Windwalker". The underlying percussive rhythms shuffle and keep the momentum in tact while the high-end barrage of synthesizer melodies, riffs, rhythms, and harmonies simply propel this song beyond the dancefloor and into the realm of divine poetry - the sort of music that can bring tears to the eyes.Review by allmusic.com
