Album Sonho Manaco - Pay For Your Lies by Korzus Review
Although they worked in a myriad of heavy metal styles over the course of their troubled career, São Paulo's Korzus were arguably at their best when they focused on thrash, circa 1987-1990. In fact, this pairing of 1987's Sonho Maniaco and 1989's Pay for Your Lies on a single CD offers conclusive proof that they may well have been Brazil's best pure thrash band ever. Both of these efforts owe much of their inspiration to the usual suspects: Slayer, Metallica, and Anthrax; but while the former was still sung in their native Portuguese and clearly under-produced, the second saw them adopting English and finding much better sound quality to boot. Neither of these albums managed - or even tried - to reinvent the thrash metal wheel, mind you, but they nevertheless offer devout metal-heads a fascinating snapshot of Brazilian metal outside the blinding glare of Sepultura's massive international stardom.Review by allmusic.com
