Album Journeys By DJ: Desert Island Mix Part 2 by Norman Jay Review
Some mixes create a mood; the best ones force the listener to pack up their mind and take a journey. Two of the most cultivated ears in all of England, Peterson and Norman Jay, each perform one mind-numbing set on this two-disc masterpiece. Blending the finest rare-groove, hip-hop, Northern soul, jungle, jazz, and every shade in between, these sets ebb and flow with passion. Jay's mix has more of a house flavor, in contrast to Peterson's jazzier explorations. Subtle sounds demarcate every twist and turn of this piece; listen for interesting sprinkles of Herbie Hancock, Average White Band and Sun Ra tastefully flavoring some of their songs. Look out for Jay's wild remix of the Hall and Oates hit "Maneater", the two funky versions of "A Love Supreme", and the ultra-rare track "What's Wrong with Groovin'" by Letta Mbulu on Peterson's mix. For anyone who's never heard these men spin live - this is as close to their musical heaven as you'll get.Review by allmusic.com
